South Hill Inside Stories (Multimedia Website collaboration)
Have you ever wanted to meet your neighbours? Inside Stories is a website that profiles 9 South Hill neighbours and their personal stories of coming to Canada and settling in. This innovative interactive engagement piece lets you explore storefronts and houses and meet the people who live and work inside. Short videos connect the view to the personal stories and story submission allows the public to collaborate with their own stories.
Co-Created by –Shannon Mendes (Creative, Audio, Photography & Video editing), Jeremy Mendes (Creative, Producer), Nettie Wild (Creative, Story teller extraordinaire) and Switch United (Site Design/Interface). Funded through the South Hill Neighbourhood House.
South Hill Murals: Engagement Art Installation
Shannon’s 9 x 12 foot photo murals, were installed on buildings in the South Hill neighbourhood of Vancouver. The project, which was funded by Vancouver 125, was created as an engagement piece to connect neighbours with the Inside Stories Website project. The murals depicted people that live and work in this multiculturally diverse neighbourhood.
An additional engagement event was organized to bring together the press, the creators and neighbourhood families to help install the work. see time lapse of mural installation by community
